If your Jupiter X5 seems to be taking off on its own, this means that the chain tension needs to be adjusted. When the chain it too loose, the pedals will move on their own in turn activating your pedal assist function. This is a very basic adjustment and is required over time. To do this, locate the 10mm nut on the back fork. Loosen up the 18mm nut on the motor side, and then tighten up (rotate clockwise) the 10mm nut. Make sure the chain has a little bit of bounce. Tighten up the 18mm nut after giving the chain some tension. This will solve the potential issue of the bike moving on its own.
Please always practice safety and keep your fingers hovering over the BRAKE LEVERS at all times in the event that the bike needs to be stopped abruptly.

I never would’ve guessed that chain tension resulted in unexpected acceleration of the electric motor. Perhaps this article needs to be under a section related to troubleshooting unexpected acceleration. Also, it was not clear how to get the cap off of the nut, which might be more clear if these instructions were in a video format. However it did appear to work, so thank you.
